The sports industry, valued at over $1 trillion worldwide, is central in global brand-building and economic expansion strategies for emerging growth companies in apparel, mobile technology, sporting venues and more.  New prospects are entering the international marketplace led by social media and interactive digital broadcasting, creating opportunities to connect and engage like never before.

To succeed in the competitive sports marketplace, leaders need to capture this energy and ignite business opportunities around the world. The Global Business of Sports Executive Program is a unique course designed to help participants navigate this burgeoning industry and to apply international business practices to the landscape of sports. With a diverse curriculum, interactive classroom, and access to a network of sports executives, participants will position themselves with industry expertise that will enable them to enter and succeed in the sports business world.


The program is designed for professionals looking to harness the principles of sports to create social, economic and technology benefits and drive competitive advantage.Those who would benefit the most include executives looking to broaden their sports business knowledge and skills, government employees, legislators and non-profits looking to harness sports for mission-critical initiatives, emerging sports federations, entrepreneurs with aspirations for evolving business ventures, media companies, agencies, sponsors, and marketers. 


Strategic Purpose

Participants will learn strategic frameworks to better understand the scope of industry, from techniques for gauging the marketplace and crafting brand-building plans, to customer engagement, measurement, and retention.

The three-day course is structured to specifically focus on lectures, case studies, and classroom discussion along with external industry-specific presentations and networking.

The Global Business of Sports is led by the McDonough School of Business along with the faculty and executives of the Sports Industry Management graduate program in the School of Continuing Studies.
